It’s very common that couples ask themselves if they should hire either a wedding DJ or a band for their wedding entertainment. I am happy to say that I have experience as both a wedding DJ and as a musician playing in bands for many years.
I’d like to share with you important factors to consider when making the decision on whether you should hire a wedding DJ, a band, or even both!
Budget
Depending on the level of talent and demand for a wedding DJ or a band, their prices can vary from inexpensive to very expensive. However, bands may have a higher price tag simply because there are more people to pay.
Vibe and Energy
There is without question a different feel that you get when listening to a wedding DJ and a band. A band delivers more of the human element and energy to the music. A wedding DJ can deliver a little more of that dance club type of feel. They are both great in my opinion, just special in their own ways.
Scheduling and Organization
Every member of a band has their own personal and professional schedule. The more members in a band, the more schedules have to come together in an organized fashion. A wedding DJ has just his or her own schedule.
Your Personal Tastes
Your choice of musical wedding entertainment should fit your own style and theme of your wedding. If you prefer spending time listening to live bands over dancing to contemporary pop music, then hiring a band might be the way to go and visa versa. This is a great way to put your “signature” on your Big Day!
Teamwork
If you decide to hire both a wedding DJ and a band, everyone involved must all be team-players. They will both have to “share the stage” literally.
The best situation is when the DJ helps promote a successful performance of the band and the band cheers the DJ on as well. This makes for a very positive environment that you and all of your guests will love and make you want to dance all night long!

Hello! My name is Tony Coppola and I’d like to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself and CC King Entertainment.
I began my musical journey when I was 12 years old as a singer and drummer. Ten years ago, I built a home recording studio and named it CC King Studio. Shortly after, I DJ’d my first wedding and CC King Entertainment was born!
After DJing hundreds of weddings, my business allowed me to leave my 16-year career as an occupational therapist. I ALWAYS go the extra mile to personalize my wedding services and I have the distinct honor to work with an amazing team of Michigan wedding DJs.

It really helped me when you said that your choice of musical wedding entertainment should fit your own style and theme of your wedding. My fiance and I love jazz music, and we are in search of an available band that can play in our upcoming wedding. I will inform my fiance that we should consider this in hiring one.
