I have DJ’d at most of the Michigan wedding venues over the past 10 years. With that said, I thought it would be helpful to those looking to book a banquet hall in Michigan, if I shared my venue reviews as well as the experience I had at several of these popular wedding spaces. I have also included pictures and videos I took during my time at the venues.
This list is a work in progress and there are many venues where I have provided my services that I will be adding in the future.
Check it out to see if the banquet hall you are considering or have booked is featured!

Inn At St. John’s Atrium
I can honestly say DJing an Inn at St John’s Atrium wedding for the first time was almost surreal.
Even before I started my wedding business, I was always so blown away at this one of a kind wedding venue.
When I began DJing over 10 years ago, I immediately made it a goal of mine to provide my services at this breathtaking wedding masterpiece.
Now after providing my services a few times in this venue, I have to admit, it STILL takes my breath away.
CC King At An Inn AtSt Johns Atrium Wedding
The Ambiance
From the moment you walk into an Inn at St. John’s Atrium wedding, the first thought that comes to mind is WOW!
Furthermore, as you enter the wedding space, you will look straight up at the grand ceiling and your eyes will light right up!
This gorgeous banquet room also incorporates touches of nature and massive lighting columns.
But don’t just take my word for it, you can see for yourself how amazing this wedding space is in the picture below!
The Acoustics
In addition to its gorgeous ambiance, as a DJ I’ve just gotta talk about how awesome this venue sounds!
Simply put, it’s sounds big and grand as in the same way it looks.
On that note, when you hire your DJ, I suggest he or she has a good amount of speaker power to accommodate a space this size.
In addition, I also recommend that you take some time with your DJ to visit The Inn at St Johns Atrium before your wedding date.
If it’s their first time performing there, it will help them prepare for your wedding.
They really should experience the massive scale of this room in advance.
As of this date I am scheduled to DJ an Inn at St Johns Atrium wedding in about 4 months. As always, I am super excited to do so!
If you are looking for that “GRAND WOW FACTOR” in a wedding venue, this is the place!

Detroit Masonic Temple
Of the hundreds of wedding I have serviced, DJing a Detroit Masonic Temple wedding is always a special experience.
Check out the video below featuring many AMAZING moments at one of the weddings I DJd at this one-of-a-kind wedding venue.
If the venue wasn’t beautiful enough naturally, it also looks so gorgeous with uplighting added as well.
Check out the breathtaking picture below with uplighting added to the to massive ballroom’s structural columns.
There is also a very classy area on the second level that you and your guests will LOVE during cocktail hour.
CC King at a Detroit Masonic Temple Wedding
In addition to the ambiance of this historic gem, I’ve gotta talk about the acoustic sound of the ballroom!
If you are looking for a BIG acoustic concert sound for your wedding, this is the place!
With that said, I always double up on my audio equipment and lighting anytime I provide my DJ services at this Michigan wedding venue.
Check out it out below!
The CC King DJ and Lighting Set Up at a Detroit Masonic Temple Wedding
The Detroit Masonic Temple is without a doubt one of the most iconic structures in Detroit Michigan.
I can definitely say it ranks in the top five of my favorite wedding venues.
Another special feature about this ballroom that I love is the dancing area.
There is more than enough space for everyone to dance the night away all night long!
On that note, I recommend that if you hire a DJ for your wedding at the Detroit Masonic Temple, that you hire one that can really get a lot people on the dance floor.
I DJ at the Masonic about one to two times a year.
As of this date, I am scheduled to DJ a wedding there next year and I can’t wait!
Lastly, if you are looking for the “GRAND STAGE” to host your wedding, look no further than the historic Detroit Masonic Temple.
Your photographer will love it too!

Fox Hills
Wow! Providing our DJ services at a Fox Hills wedding was an evening to remember. What an AMAZING setting!
We provided our wedding services at this lovely setting more than any other in 2018.
We love performing at all of their banquet venues from the Golden Fox, Summerhouse and Fox Classic. This Saturday we were at Fox Classic and it was our second time there in the last two months.
The Ambiance
Although the weather outside was a bit chilly, it was a very cozy and comfortable Fall wedding.
In addition, the Fox Classic venue was a great choice for the couple’s October wedding as it has a log cabin type structure with actual full sized tree logs which went so well with the season and the wedding theme.
The Ceremony
One thing we love most about Fox Hills are the breathtaking views that accompany their wedding ceremony settings.
It’s also notable that these ceremony areas are close to their banquet halls which makes for a seamless transition from the ceremony to reception.
See us in action at a Fox Hills wedding!
The Layout
It’s also important to note that we had enough audio equipment to supply music for the ceremony, cocktail area outside, dinning and dancing areas.
Many other DJ companies do not have enough equipment and have to move their equipment from one area to another during the wedding.
Not us, we have enough equipment to supply up to 7 different areas simultaneously.
Toasts and Speeches
During Dinner we provided the audio system and wireless microphone for toasts.
The DJ equipment was located a little ways away from the dinning area, so we routed an extra speaker closer to the where everyone was sitting so all of the guests could hear the toasts and speeches clearly.
Let’s Dance!
After dinner there was no hesitation for everyone to head on out to the dance floor to dance the night away with CC King at Fox Hills!
From fast dances to slow, classic rock to modern dance hits, the dance floor was packed for the entire evening!

Northville Hills Golf Club
Wow! Providing our DJ services at a Northville Hills Golf Club wedding was an evening to remember.
We also included our photo booth services and everyone had a wonderful time!
In addition, there was non-stop dancing from the first song to the last.
Our lovely bride and groom also left us a wonderful review on The Knot about how pleased they were with our services.
See Us In Action At a Northville Hills Golf Club Wedding
My DJ partner Rodney and I agreed that the staff at the Northville Hills Golf Club was outstanding and extremely accommodating.
And what a beautiful venue for a wedding!
No matter where you looked, there was always gorgeous indoor decor and outdoor scenery to be admired.
Everyone had a great time with our photo booth as well.
Furthermore, there were almost 100 photo booth sessions for the entire evening!
Plus, with the booth in the hallway, I could still hear guests using the booth having a blast all the way into the banquet room.
How Awesome!
We also loved the fall theme that the newly married couple selected and everyone really enjoyed the doughnut wall that complemented their theme so well.
The warm and cozy feeling was everywhere and it was such a comfortable and fun environment.
To my fellow wedding vendors, you will appreciate how accessible the venue is for convenient load in and load out of equipment.
In addition, I’ll be DJing at the Northville Hills Golf Club again in the future and I am really looking forward to it!
Providing our DJ services at a Northville Hills Golf Club wedding was an amazing experience.
The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
The comfortable ambiance was beautiful both inside and outside the venue.
Vendors will also love the accessibility of the venue for easy loading in and out of equipment.
Wellers Carriage House
Wellers Carriage House is the complete package. Pictured here is their outdoor pavilion space.
They also have a beautiful indoor wedding area as well.
In addition, both the indoor and outdoor wedding areas are surrounded by a stunning garden/courtyard with a beautiful river running alongside of it.
I also loved how nobody had to walk far to access the indoor or outdoor spaces.
Furthermore, this venue is VERY wedding vendor friendly.
It is very easy to maneuver when setting up equipment and there is tons of access to power.
Pine Knob Mansion
If you’ve ever dreamed of having your wedding ceremony on a massive hilltop overlooking thousands of trees, this is the place!
I’ve got to admit, I got lucky when I took this picture that this wedding was during the Fall.
The trees in the background look so colorful!
This outdoor wedding venue in Michigan also had an indoor wedding space (The Mansion) that was also very accessible for both guests and vendors.
Furthermore, if you like dedicated spots for each segment of your wedding, you will love this venue.
There are separate spaces for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and indoor and outdoor dancing areas.
The Pine Knob Mansion is truly a historic and special venue that you and all of your guests will love and adore.
Barn Wedding Venues In Michigan
Frutig Farms
Outdoor ceremony by a river, outdoor reception under a beautiful tent and dancing inside the barn.
It’s the total package for an outdoor wedding venue in Michigan!
If you like a lot of space to take in the scenery, you will love Frutig Farms.
Everywhere you look while at this venue, you are surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.
Your DJ will also love the built-in sound system in the barn. It sounds amazing!
I have to add, this Michigan wedding venue is run by super friendly owners and staff.
They were very accommodating to the newly married couple, guests and all vendors while I was there.
I highly recommend this venue if you are looking for the total outdoor wedding venue experience.
Briar Barns Wedding Venue
From the moment I walked into the wedding venue, my breath was instantly taken away by this amazing setting. I knew that CC King at a Briar Barns wedding was going to be a VERY wonderful evening.
What made this wedding extra special for me was that our lovely bride and groom got engaged at a wedding I DJ’d over one year prior to theirs.
I was so honored when the mother of the bride (who also attended the previous wedding) asked me to be the DJ her daughter’s wedding as well.
The Ceremony
The ceremony was absolutely beautiful.
There was so much love for the bride and groom in this warm and charming room as all of the guests literally cheered when they both walked down the aisle to begin the ceremony.
I myself was extremely moved by the moment as well.
I also realized at this time this very lively energy of the guests was going to bode well for a lot of dancing later on!
One of the highlights of this wedding for me was fulfilling a very cool request to bring a disco ball.
I’ll admit, I bought a disco ball years ago and have never used it!
Needless to say, I put together the disco ball system and it added such a special touch as the parents of the bride danced under its amazing lights during the dance they dedicated to each other.
And there it is! Ya gotta love it!
I think it is also very important to mention how welcoming all of the guests were to me at the wedding.
Although I had DJ’d for many of them only one time previously, I felt like I was among many friends that simply wanted to have a great time celebrating our bride and groom’s marriage and were glad I was a part of the big day.
The Slideshow
I also brought the CC King Slideshow with music.
The father of the bride put together two wonderful music videos that we played during the bride and groom’s first dance as well as the dances with their parents.
We also kept the slideshow running throughout the rest of the reception as ambiance. Everybody LOVED it.
The Dancing!
And wow the dancing! Everyone danced the night away all the way to the very last song.
I was having so much fun myself, I didn’t want the night of CC King at Briar Barns to end!
I was amazed at how even though I had almost a 3-hour drive home, the adrenaline from this awesome night carried me all the way into the next day where I had the opportunity to DJ my next wedding.
What a weekend!
Forest Wedding Venues In Michigan
Stony Creek
I’ll always remember when I had my DJ consultation with the bride and groom at this location.
As soon as we entered the ceremony space, my eyes lit up and I gasped for air.
I was so taken back by the beauty of this amazing forest wedding ceremony area.
Furthermore, on the day of the wedding, all of the guests had their phones out taking pictures as well as they made their way to their seats.
One side note, as a DJ, I have to mention there is no power in this ceremony location.
If you are considering this outdoor wedding venue in Michigan, be sure to hire a DJ with a portable power supply for your ceremony.
Preferably not a noisy generator.
In addition to this very special ceremony site, Stony Creek also has a GORGEOUS wedding tent for your reception!
Broadview Christmas Tree Farm
This very charming forest wedding venue in Michigan space is one-of-a-kind.
If you would love to have your ceremony in a very private and secluded space, you will love this spot.
Once you arrive at this venue, you and your guests will be transported down the trail on a tractor cart with seating.
After the ceremony, there is a very cozy indoor cocktail hour space and outdoor pavilion for dancing as well.
This venue is a very comfortable and stress-free place to have a wedding ceremony and reception.
It really has that “Mom and Pop” country feel to it.
I highly recommend this venue if you are looking for gorgeous scenery with a laid back personable touch to your wedding.

Additional Wedding Shoe Game Notes:
I have found, the best time to play the wedding shoe game is about three-quarters of the way into dinner.
The number of questions to ask is endless. However, some of them could cause moments of awkwardness.
You should always consider the couples’ personal tastes and circumstances when selecting the questions to ask.
Never blindly ask questions without considering how the newly married couple and their guests may respond.
This game should be brief and concise. It should take no longer than 10 minutes.

About the Author
Hello! My name is Tony Coppola and I’d like to take this time to tell you a little bit about myself and CC King Entertainment.
I began my musical journey when I was 12 years old as a singer and drummer.
Ten years ago, I built a home recording studio and named it CC King Studio. Shortly after, I DJ’d my first wedding and CC King Entertainment was born!
After DJing hundreds of weddings, my business allowed me to leave my 16 year career as an occupational therapist.
I ALWAYS go the extra mile to personalize my wedding services and have the honor to work with an amazing team of wedding DJs.

Wedding DJ Websites
The topic of wedding DJ websites is special to me. Why? Because over the last 10 years as a wedding DJ, I have learned that a DJ’s website is one of the best tools to reach clients and help sell our services.
I can honestly say I work on my website almost daily for many reasons.
First, I want it to reflect my personal tastes and style. Second, I want it to be user friendly. It should also be full of information that is useful to the viewer. Lastly, I want it to be properly structured for SEO (search engine optimization).
With that said, I have included below the most important components of what I think makes the best wedding DJ websites.
Best Wedding DJ Websites
Reflects The DJ’s Personality
While templates and design are important, the best wedding DJ websites reflect the DJ’s personality.
DJs are not only in the music business, but they are just as much in the personality business.
Somebody could easily hook up an MP3 playing device to a speaker if they just wanted music.
With that said, they generally hire a specific DJ because they LOVE their unique style as a person.
While I think it’s important to check out other DJs’ websites for ideas, it’s even more important a DJ’s website expresses their specific tastes, brand and personality.
Award Badges
If you have received any award badges, why keep them to yourself?
When a potential client sees award badges on your website, it helps give you creditability and tells the visitor that you are good at what you do.
In addition, award badges inform the person viewing your website that you have a good amount of experience and are in demand.
Furthermore, you may notice that prospects will ask you fewer questions regarding your qualifications and request face-to-face interviews less often.
They may also be more willing to book in you in a shorter period of time.
If you want to decrease the amount of effort that goes into signing up a client, one of the best things you can do is display your award badges on your website.
Especially on your contact page.
Client Reviews
When a prospective client considers hiring a DJ, they want to read their client reviews almost all of the time.
You should have at least one of your favorite client reviews directly on your website.
In addition to having reviews directly on wedding DJ websites, there should also be a link to additional reviews on vendor listing platforms (ex. The Knot, Google or Yelp).
If you don’t have any reviews on your site or vendor listings, getting hired consistently will be a struggle. It’s that simple.
Wedding DJ Bios
In addition to expressing your personality through your templates and design, you will want your clients to get to know you even further through your bio.
A bio can be placed on an “About” page or in several different places on your site.
The main thing is you want to have a bio located somewhere on your wedding DJ site. Without one, it’s very likely you will just get lost in the sea of thousands of other DJs.
In addition, when writing your bio, I think it’s a great idea to take a conversation style approach to write it.
You should include your accomplishments, but the more personable your bio comes across, the better in my opinion.
Pictures and Videos
Prospective clients want to see the DJ they are considering to hire in action.
In addition, they will sometimes ask if they can come to watch you perform live.
I do not advise anyone to invite prospective clients to an event where there is an exclusive guest list like a wedding.
With that said, you will want to have pictures and videos on your website of you in action.
Be sure they are high in quality and are not blurry.
I should add, while pictures and videos are important, you don’t want to overdo it as they can significantly slow the loading speed of your website.
This is another time in which you can provide a link to additional pictures and videos to one of your off-site vendor listings.
Mobile Friendly
In a day in age where there are more phones than people, it’s a good idea to make sure your site is mobile friendly.
Furthermore, more than 60% of all wedding planning is done online via smartphone.
This percentage is also expected to increase in the future.
I recommend when you design your website on a laptop that you also check out how everything looks on your phone and make adjustments accordingly.
Wedding DJ Services
Some DJs provide more than just DJ services. Most are also emcees.
In addition, many wedding DJs offer photo booths, lighting, ceremony audio systems, monograms and much more.
Whatever services you provide, it’s important to list ALL of your wedding services.
I have been asked on several occasions if I will be the emcee at a wedding.
I’m also often asked if I provide audio services for the wedding ceremony.
A DJ should never assume a prospective client knows what services they offer.
Even if you list all your services, people may still not see them as we live in a world of FAST online searching and skimming.
This brings me to my next wedding DJ website component.
Pricing
As I just mentioned, when someone is on your website, they navigate fast and want to make as few clicks as possible.
They also don’t like bulky text.
You could lose a reader in a matter of seconds if you don’t deliver what they are looking for in a quick, clear and concise way.
The younger generations especially don’t want to get on the phone and call you for more information.
As of this date, easy accessibility to pricing guides is something that can make or break a deal.
Many DJs will disagree on this one for understandable reasons such as competition seeing their rates and the option of price flexibility.
However, it is in your best interest to reduce the amount of time your reader spends looking for this important information.
Therefore, I highly recommend you include a basic pricing guide on your wedding DJ website.
Best Wedding DJ Websites
Keep It Simple
It may sound cool to say you have tons of pages on your website, but to a reader, it can become but a headache.
They can also get lost on your site if there are too many pages that are not properly organized. SAY GOODBYE TO THAT CLIENT, because they will leave and probably never come back.
It’s also a good idea to avoid drop-down menus with too many items.
The reason for this is because the choices in a dropdown menu on a phone are often close together and it can be hard to click on the right link.
Less is more in my opinion when it comes to designing wedding DJ websites.
There are some websites that consist of only one page and they can be extremely user friendly!
Contact Page and Contact Forms
Your biggest goal when someone is on your wedding DJ website is to get them to contact you.
With that said, I recommend there is both a contact page on your website menu as well as a contact form on every page.
Sometimes a visitor will forward the link of one of your pages to a friend or family member so it’s nice to know there is a contact form on every page.
You want to make it as easy as possible for people to contact you.
They should never have difficulty finding a way to get in touch.
Social Media Links
Social media platforms drive traffic to your website and your website should drive traffic to your social media pages.
The two work so well together.
When a prospective client is checking you out on your website, they will often want to see how active you are on social media.
They may also wish to see how you interact with the people following you on these pages.
With that said, be sure to provide easy access to your main social media pages via icons with links.
Search Engine Optimization
The topic of SEO is one of massive scale.
Thousands upon thousands of blogs have been written on it.
For this blog, I will just cover a few basic ideas and tools you can use to optimize your site for search engines.
Simply put, you want your wedding DJ website to be found online when someone does a search via a search engine.
If you have a WordPress site, I think the best plugin for SEO is “SEO Yoast.”
It will analyze all of your pages and posts and give you recommendations on how to make them more SEO friendly.
I also advise that you take some time to blog as it can significantly increase the amount of traffic that flows to your site.
Lastly, it’s helpful to link out to other wedding vendor’s websites as they might link back to yours. This is good for improving your search engine rankings as well.

How To Find A Wedding DJ
If you want to know how to find a wedding DJ that is perfect for your big day, this blog is for you.
There are many different options that will help you find the right DJ with the right personality at the right price.
I have listed several resources and links to help you get a great start in your search for your wedding DJ.
How To Find A Wedding DJ
Online Wedding Publications
If you want to know how to find a wedding DJ in a very convenient way, I recommend you do a search on some of the more popular online wedding publications.
These platforms include everything thing from DJ bios, past client reviews, pictures and videos of the DJ in action as well as their website and contact info.
It’s the closest thing to a “one-stop-shop” for finding the wedding DJ that is right for you.
Some of the most popular online wedding vendor publications include:
Social Media
Who doesn’t love social media? If you want to know how to find a wedding DJ and have fun doing it, social media platforms are a great place for this.
What I love about social media, is you have a chance to see how the wedding DJs you are considering interacts with the people on their business page.
It’s always a good sign when a wedding DJ replies to comments on his or her posts. It shows that they are personable and approachable.
It’s also nice to see if the DJ posts regularly as this often indicates they are providing their services on a consistent basis.
In addition, social media platforms allow you to follow a DJ to see them in action before even contacting them.
The most popular social media sites for finding a wedding DJ are pretty obvious, but I will list them anyway.
Internet Search Engines
If you want to know how to find a wedding DJ in a more specific and filtered way, search engines are great for refining your search.
You can search for anything via search engines like Google, Yahoo or Bing. If you search for it, you will probably find something or someone that is related to your search.
Search engines provide both paid listings and organic listings.
It’s important to note that there is generally more competition to rank organically on the first page for popular keywords.
So if a DJ company is listed on the first page organically, then there is a good chance their website is a quality site with a good amount of traffic.
How To Find A Wedding DJ
Wedding Expos
If want to know how to find a wedding DJ or any wedding vendor for that matter, I highly recommend you attend wedding expos.
They are super fun and you can save a lot of time booking meetings with vendors because they are already present at the bridal show.
You can usually ask the most important questions for hiring your wedding DJ at the show.
If you’d like to go into greater detail about your wedding and the DJ services, you can also schedule a consultation right on the spot.
In addition, if you are looking to hire a wedding DJ, you can get a great feel for their personality while at the expo.
Many vendors also offer wedding show specials that can save you money as well!
Referrals
As the old saying goes “The best form of advertising is word of mouth.”
This also applies to being referred to a wedding DJ. A recommendation from someone you know is generally a very reliable and trustworthy source of information.
The person referring the wedding DJ may have already hired him or her and knows first hand if they deliver a great service and performance.
It is still important to do your due diligence and learn as much about the DJ as possible before hiring them.
The DJ may have been a great fit for the person who referred them, but he or she may not be a great fit for you.
Furthermore, be sure to take some time to ask your closest family and friends for wedding DJ recommendations.
They have your best interests at heart and want you to have a great DJ.
Local Listings
I love local listings like Yelp or Superpages. They are generally a little less cosmetic and get right to the information needed for contacting and hiring.
For example, when somebody contacts me via a local listing. I book that wedding almost every time.
If you don’t feel like sifting through hundreds of DJ profiles listed on online vendor platforms, then I recommend you cut right to the chase and contact a few of the highest-rated DJs in a local listing.
To be a little more specific in your search, I recommend you search for a local listing in the city where your wedding venue is located.
Not necessarily the city that you live in.
The reason for this is because the DJ is probably familiar with all of the most popular wedding venues in his or her area.
